Life on the Open Road

Our family’s adventures across Britain with the Caravan and Motorhome Club — the sites we’ve loved, the days out that made memories, and everything you need to plan your own journey.

Our Story

We are Caravan Travel Family — Grant, Amie, Bodhi Honey (born 2018), and River Ace (born 2021), living on the border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Both of us grew up caravanning with our families in the 80s and 90s, so when we had children of our own, the pull back to it was always there. We started with camping, fell in love with the outdoors all over again, and in 2022 we took the leap — a Coachman Acadia 830, towed by the VW Amarok, and a first trip to Sherwood Pines that reminded us exactly why we loved it as kids.

We are a neurodivergent family, and the caravan has given us something we did not expect — a genuine sense of freedom. No rigid schedules, no unfamiliar hotel rooms, no sensory overload. Just our home on wheels, parked somewhere beautiful, at our own pace.

Amie spent 15 years as a teacher before health challenges after River’s birth led her to step back from the classroom. She began working with Grant on social media for his business, Industrial Glow, discovered a love for content creation, and Caravan Travel Family grew from there. This website is our honest record of everywhere we have been, everything we have learned, and everything we wish someone had told us when we started.
