Why Levelling Matters
A caravan that is not level is uncomfortable to sleep in, causes the fridge to work inefficiently, and puts unnecessary stress on the chassis. Getting it right is not optional — it is essential.
Before we had a proper levelling system, Grant would spend 20 minutes driving forward and backward over ramps, checking the spirit level, adjusting, rechecking. It was the most frustrating part of every arrival.
The Lock n Level System
The Lock n Level system consists of interlocking plastic ramps that you drive onto to raise the low side of the caravan. The key advantage over traditional ramps is that they lock together, so they cannot slip apart while you are driving onto them.
Grant fitted our Thule Omnistor himself — he is very hands-on — and the Lock n Level system was the same: straightforward to use from the first time.
We can now level the caravan in under two minutes. It has genuinely transformed our arrival experience.
Tips for Levelling
Always level side-to-side first, then front-to-back using the jockey wheel.
Check the level from inside the caravan, not just from outside. The fridge has a built-in level indicator on most modern caravans.
On grass pitches, use a groundsheet under the levelling ramps to prevent them sinking into soft ground.
