What Is a Certificated Location?

A Certificated Location (CL) is a small private site certified by the Caravan and Motorhome Club. They are limited to a maximum of five pitches, which means they are always quiet, always personal, and often in locations that larger sites simply cannot reach.

You need to be a Club member to stay on a CL, which is one of the best reasons to join. There are over 2,500 CLs across the UK — in farmers’ fields, woodland clearings, coastal headlands, and village gardens.

Why We Love CLs

The peace and quiet is unmatched. With a maximum of five vans, there is no noise, no queues for the facilities, and no feeling of being in a car park.

The locations are often extraordinary. We have stayed on a working farm with views across a valley, in a field behind a village pub, and on a coastal headland with no other caravans in sight.

For our neurodivergent family, the low-stimulation environment of a CL is genuinely restorative. The kids can roam freely without the sensory overwhelm of a large busy site.

Our Favourite CLs

[PERSONALISE: Add your favourite CL names, locations, and what made them special]

When choosing a CL, look for ones with electric hook-up if you need it — not all CLs have EHU. Also check whether there are toilet and shower facilities, as many CLs are very basic.

The Club’s website and app let you search CLs by region, facilities, and member ratings, which makes finding the right one for your trip straightforward.
