We have just had the most amazing day out at Camel Creek Family Adventure Park in Cornwall, and we cannot recommend it enough. We visited as a group of four adults and two little ones — Bodhi Honey (6) and River Ace (3) — and every single one of us had a brilliant time.
If you are visiting Cornwall and you are looking for a full day of thrills, laughs, and genuine family fun, Camel Creek is the place. And here is the thing: they offer a 7-day unlimited return pass, which is an absolute no-brainer if you are staying in the area for a week. We would have gone back every day if River had not come down with a bug at the end of the trip — more on that later.
The Rides
We started with Thunder Falls, which quickly became the family favourite. We went on it multiple times. One essential warning: bring spare clothes. You will get soaked. Completely, thoroughly, happily soaked. Totally worth it.
The Dragon roller coaster was a hit with everyone — a classic that gets the whole group on board together. Merlin’s Magical Playground was genuinely magical for the younger ones; Bodhi and River were completely in their element.
The ride that generated the most excitement across the whole group was Morgawr — our absolute favourite roller coaster of the day. Everyone agreed it was the best ride in the park. The Clown Coaster felt a little slow by comparison, but it is a good starting point for younger or more cautious riders.
Raging Rivers was another standout — we could have gone on it all day. Swampy’s Drop gave us all a brilliant stomach-flip moment, and the Wave Rider was a great way to cool off between the bigger rides.
For the Younger Ones
River was not quite tall enough for some of the bigger rides, but Camel Creek handled this brilliantly. He and Amie headed to Cornwall’s only 5D Simulator Theatre, where he was completely mesmerised by the 3D viewing experience. Meanwhile, Bodhi, Grant, and Grandad tackled the full 5D version — they came out buzzing. It is a genuinely clever way to make sure everyone in the group has a brilliant experience regardless of height.
Shipwreck Shores Adventure Golf was a highlight for the whole group — friendly competition, beautiful setting, and the kids loved every hole.
The Animals and the Quieter Bits
Pets Corner was a lovely pit stop — clean, well-kept, and no unpleasant smells (always a bonus). The animals were adorable and gave everyone a chance to slow down and breathe between the bigger rides. The Reptile House was another highlight, with some genuinely fascinating creatures in an equally clean environment.
Food
We had lunch at The Playhouse, and the food was reasonably priced and actually tasted good — which is not always a given at theme parks. The drop slide nearby was a massive hit with the kids while the adults finished their food.
Our Verdict
Camel Creek is an absolute gem in Cornwall. The 7-day return pass makes it exceptional value if you are staying locally, and the mix of thrill rides, water rides, animals, and gentler attractions means there is genuinely something for every age and every mood. We were planning to go back the very next evening, but poor River came down with a bug and we had to call it. He is on the mend now, and we are already planning our return.
Get your family together and make a day of it. You will not regret it.
