Why Cadac?

Before we bought our first Cadac, we tried two different portable gas BBQs. Both were fine for a quick sausage but completely inadequate for cooking a proper family meal on site. The Cadac changed everything.

Cadac is a South African brand that has become the go-to choice for serious caravanners across Europe. The build quality is exceptional, the cooking surfaces are interchangeable, and the gas efficiency is outstanding — a single 907g gas cartridge will last us an entire weekend of cooking.

The Carri Chef 50 — Our BBQ

We cook on the Cadac Carri Chef 50 and it is, without question, the best piece of kit we own for the caravan. The 47cm cooking surface is large enough to cook a full family meal — paella for four, a pizza, or a full English breakfast — without any compromise.

The dome lid with integrated thermometer means you can use it as an oven as well as a BBQ, which opens up a whole new range of recipes. The two-part folding legs make it compact enough to store in the caravan without taking up valuable space.

The QR (Quick Release) coupling makes connecting and disconnecting the gas bottle fast and safe — no tools required.

Cooking Surfaces

The genius of the Cadac system is the interchangeable cooking surfaces. All Series 50 surfaces fit the Carri Chef 50:

Paella Pan 50 — our most-used surface. Perfect for paella, stir-fries, and one-pan meals.

Pizza Stone Pro 50 — makes genuinely good pizza on the caravan. The dome lid traps the heat perfectly.

BBQ 2 Plancha 50 — half grill, half flat plate. Ideal for a mixed breakfast.

Chef Pan 50 — a deep pan for soups, stews, and pasta.

Soft Soak 50 — a cleaning tray that makes washing the cooking surfaces easy.

Our Favourite Cadac Recipes

Campsite Paella — chorizo, chicken, peppers, rice, and saffron. Feeds four in 30 minutes on the Paella Pan 50.

Cadac Pizza — homemade dough, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and whatever toppings the kids want. The Pizza Stone Pro 50 and dome lid give you a genuinely crispy base.

Full English — bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, and mushrooms all at once on the BBQ 2 Plancha 50.
